I've started a new blog that has to do with the theme in my romance novels. (It's about sex.) It can be found at apromiseofpassion.com There is room for the readers to comment and add stories. I'm hoping it'll be entertaining and engaging. I've started out somewhat mildly, but you know that won't continue. It is one of my absolute favorite topics. I've made the site mobile friendly, so check it out and let me know what you think!
I had two women getting waxed in the same room yesterday. I told them the story about the woman who advised me that black women don't have hair between their cheeks. It's one of my funniest stories to date. They were laughing so hard, the one started to cry. That's what getting a Brazilian wax should be all about...fun!

In 1991 and 1992, I had a baby on Labor Day weekend. Yes, 2 babies back to back. It was a busy time for Mark & M.E. I remember making sure I had freshly decorated nails and piggies, my body was hair-free, and my hair was freshly colored or permed. It was a scary and exciting time in our lives.
For many of you, it's also a time to celebrate, because your kids are going back to school. That was a definite bonus once our children were school age too. I know it's sad to see summer coming to an end, but we had such an amazing summer, we can't complain. I've never felt so much Vitamin D radiating through our fine city ever. More than just our hoo-ha's have been happy these past three months.
No matter what your motivation is this coming weekend, make sure your parts are properly groomed so you can celebrate in style! See you this week...

Don't wait until the last minute to groom your hedges for the upcoming weekend's festivities. Mark & I will not be working Saturday. We will be working longer hours this week to accommodate all your hair and hair removal needs, so let's us know what works. The salon will be open from 8-3 on Saturday, however, for those of you who can only make it on that day, and our staff will take excellent care of you!a

Have you downloaded the sequel yet? Can't wait to hear what you think of the limo scene... #passionneverdies
I was waxing a woman who hadn't been waxed in several months. As I was finishing, she told me that her lady parts were on fire. I told her that she wasn't very red. In fact, her skin was only light pink. I told her that the area was the color of Bubblicious Bubble Gum. She told me that she hoped someone would chew on her like a piece of bubble gum.

A woman charged her Brazilian service at Mark & M.E. I asked her if she wanted a receipt. She laughed and said she wasn't sure how she'd return the item if she didn't want it anymore. We pondered gluing the hair back on or possibly providing her with a merkin in exchange for the hair I removed. No, I guess a Brazilian is not something that can be easily exchanged or returned. She left with a huge smile and no receipt.

The sequel to A Promise of Passion is now available on Amazon Kindle. If you need to know if Katie found love again, download Passion Never Dies tonight!
If you enjoyed The Happy Trail as much as I did writing it, I'd love a review on Amazon. You've told me you love the crazy poetry and the absurd illustrations, please tell the world! Thank you!!

Here's my not so old age story on this beautiful Friday morning.
The last time I saw my mom, she hopped into my corvette and said she wondered if she'd ever feel her age, which is 85. If you met her, you wouldn't believe she was that old. She always told me you're as old as you feel. I told her that I doubted she'd ever feel her age because she has such an amazing attitude and I hoped to be like her when I grew up.
Yesterday, my doctor told me I've graduated to that next level of maturity: menopause. That's not sitting well with me. I am so my mother's daughter. It must be a combination of my upbringing, personality and bizarre career choice, but my grown up blood work can kiss my ass! I may have more wrinkles and some aches and pains, but I am 25 years old every day of the week. Cheers to feeling forever young!

Loving this Google My Business site. Got another review! "I had my first wax here and it went great! Mary Elizabeth is obviously well versed in her practice and offered helpful advice. I'd recommend especially for newbies."
I love the "well versed" part. Yep, I love to talk!!
Do you ever come across a word when you are reading that makes you happy? There are certain words that excite me when I read them. I stumbled upon the word "feral" last night. It usually refers to animals that are wild, although in my smutty book, it was not referring to animals. It made me think of how some of the half-crazed women act on my table when I am waxing them. I had several body parts scratched and grabbed yesterday. These particular ladies were like feral animals. It was pretty exciting.

Every time I sell another book on Amazon, I get a little giddy. #thehappyhoohatrilogy #apromiseofpassion
As I was waiting to be seen by my obgyn for my yearly exam, I was playing words with friends. The word of the day was "boxy." Normally, the word of the day is something obscure. Nope, today it was boxy. Here I am, waiting to get that particular area checked out, it's the area I work on for a living, and it's the word of the day. That was the first of many belly laughs of the day!

Your's truly will be speaking at this event! I will not be talking about waxing, however. Do you think I'll have anything to say?
Sunday, August 21, 2016
I woke up this morning and couldn't believe how exhausted my arms were from our busy work week. It is one of the many occupational hazards of waxing Brazilians for a living. Flatulence in the face is another. But, for some odd reason, that doesn't bother me anymore.

I did a record number of brides this week. It makes me feel so good to be a part of such a special time in a woman's life. Cheers to all of the brides sporting their Honeymoon Brazilians this weekend!

A very slender woman tries on her wedding dress, and she can see her panty lines. Not only can she see them, it makes her extremely flat tummy look like there is a little bulge. The only answer: go commando. But how can you go commando when you have dark hair in that area? You can't. That is why she now has a beautifully bald bikini area for her special day.

I'm overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of some of my clients. I received a copy of my latest article called Manscaping 101 in the mail from a client who has shown me tremendous support. She wrote this note on it, and it really made my day. Such gestures of kindness mean more that I can say. Now I have to find my own copy of Rochester Woman, because I haven't been able to find it!

We are playing a different musical genre today at Mark & M.E. Sometimes it's funny what songs play while I am giving someone a Brazilian. A woman with a decent amount of hair was on my table when Aerosmith sang "he got hair down to his knee." Fortunately, her hair wasn't that long. The fact that the song is called "Come Together" made the whole service perfect.

Some ladies are so much more demonstrative than others when they get waxed. As I was waxing one woman today, she took off her blue tooth. She was afraid she might accidentally call someone and they would overhear her getting waxed. When she got off the table, she noticed that her blue tooth was missing. After looking through her bra countless times and searching through the garbage, she was freaking out because she couldn't find it. Fortunately, I found it under my wax table. It must have gone flying through the air as she was freaking out about getting a Brazilian. It was hiding from me just like she tried to do.
Please remember that your skin gets dehydrated very easily during the summer. Your wax will be more painful and remain red for a lot longer if you aren't hydrated properly. Please drink a few glasses of water prior to any waxing service at Mark & M.E.. Your body will thank me!

The other day, a client told Mark & my staff that she has become so ill, she is physically unable to care for her dog anymore and had to get rid of it. As you all know, we love our animals; they are a huge part of our family. So are our clients. I wasn't at the salon when this exchange happened. She sent me a private message telling me the story and reiterating how compassionate everyone was. She told me she didn't feel like a client; she felt like family. It made me so happy, even though I feel so sad for her loss.
I know that I post a lot of crazy stuff that may be on the racy side for some of you, but it is all done in fun. I have a bizarre profession & I like to share my stories with you. But why I do the work that I do and why Mark & I run the salon the way we do is because of messages like this. The rapport we have established with our clientele is priceless. Sharing the good and the bad with all of you is what has made our professional lives so blessed. Thank you to the woman who shared her feelings with me. It meant the world to me.

I spent a lot of time updating my Google Business Page. I'm not exactly sure how popular this particular site is. I just know that I want people to easily find us when they search hair or waxing. I added a ton of pictures and made sure the contact information is correct. If anyone that site, you'll have to let me know how it looks. As the person who controls the page, I don't think I see what you do. The internet is still a mysterious place...

My 15th review on Amazon just came out for A Promise of Passion. Thank you!!!!
"Loved it. I love a book that is told from both points of view. It seems more true to life and feels like you are there as the one in the story. The story line with so much passion is great. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it. A must read. Well written. I was given an Arc in exchange for an honest review."

We use abbreviations for some of our more popular services at Mark & M.E. For example, a B&B is a Brazilian and Brow Wax which is what I do on nearly half of my clients. The other day, one of my regulars walked in and I said "puss & pits?" And she laughed and said yes. That's when we decided we should call that service a P&P.

One of my friend's shared this article about 1st timers getting Brazilians. It's pretty funny!

During a Brazilian, the client and I were discussing whether or not her husband would enjoy my hard work. She said that he definitely would NOT, because he was in the doghouse. I don't quite understand the whole doghouse thing. Why should both people suffer? I had a brilliant suggestion. Instead of doghouse, choose dog style, then she wouldn't have to look at him.

We are so much more than just a wax salon, and every once in awhile I feel the need to remind people of that fact. For example, once of my client's was interested in getting a facial. We have our own personalized skincare line that we love, and I just saw that this client left a review online. Had to share!
"M.E. always does a great job, but today she recommended a facial to me, and it was FABULOUS! Thank you, Sarah, can't wait to have another!"
I started writing The Happy Hoo-Ha in 2008. There is a chapter called "Bald At Any Age" that talks about how I have waxed women ages 13 to 75. Yesterday, that 13 year old came in. She was a ballet dancer at Draper back then and her mom brought her to Mark & M.E., because you could see her hair through her pink tights. It was so cool to see her almost a decade later as a young adult. It was also a reminder that I have been doing this a really long time.

Check out the article I wrote for August's issue of the Rochester Woman's Magazine. It's about Manscaping!
Monday, August 8, 2016
Got myself an ad in August's issue of Rochester Woman's Magazine. Feel kind of bad that it says "woman owned businesses" since Mark technically owns Mark & M.E. Shhh, don't let him know. I like pretending I own the place!
I just came across this review about The Happy Hoo-Ha on Amazon from this year. I'm not sure which son the person was talking about, but it made me feel really good.
"I met this author's son on a plane ride to Rochester a few years back and we got to talking. We ended up chatting about books we were reading and he proudly told me about his family, and ended up telling me about his mother and this book. The name of the book stuck with me (so catchy) and I had been dying to read it. I'm happy that I finally got around to it. This book is both entertaining and insightful. M.E.'s open mindedness and acceptance of every client regardless of what they disclose to her is refreshing. Her insight and often funny stories about her client's lives make this a great read."

If you look closely at our amazing Olympians, you'll notice that most of them have very little or no body hair. I wish someone would have hired me to wax them all. It would have been such an honor and such a blast!

A woman called RGE from our parking lot at 9:30. She had an appointment with me at 9:45. I saw her sitting there and had her follow me upstairs. I told her she could stay on the phone while I gave her a Brazilian. I finished waxing her at 9:53. That is when the phone call ended. Who would have thought a Brazilian Bikini Wax would be quicker than being on the phone with the electric company?

Want to surprise your man the next time you come to see me for a Brazilian? Do what one of my ladies did the other day. She sent him of picture of Mark & M.E.!

I had two heroes growing up: Gilligan from Gilligan's Island and Fonzi from Happy Days. Gilligan was funny. Fonzi was confident. I am a funny girl who is confident in my waxing abilities. Strange how things work out.

Lucky 13th review of A Promise of Passion. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!
"Feeling emotions (i.e., happiness, sadness) while reading is a testimony to a "good read." The characters became real to me. Not only did I feel emotions reading this, I also related this to my own life experiences. Thanks M.E. for a fantastic read, for my laughter and my tears, and for giving me the opportunity to appreciate my own life experiences. I'll be waiting for the next installment!"

I learn new expressions all of the time in the wax room. Yesterday, I was having a condom discussion with one of my ladies. She agreed that condoms were a must and she had a mantra that she adhered too that I had never heard of before. "No glove, No love." Perfect.

Someone asked me what me favorite day was. As long as I can remember, I have always liked Tuesday the best. She said most people like Saturday or Sunday, because it's a day to sleep in. I've never been a big sleeper. It always seemed like a waste of time. She couldn't understand why anyone would like Tuesday. Probably because it's the start of my work week and being at work is fun. I love the clients. I love the work. Every day feels like I'm hanging out with friends. Yep, Brazilians have made me very happy.
