We helped a lot of kitties get ready for Halloween this past week. Wishing everyone a fun and safe Halloween celebration!

 As a small business trying to make it through these difficult times, we value all positive feedback. When I saw this, however, I wasn't sure what it meant. Once again, I had to ask my younger staff what an OG was.  I thought it referred to "Oh God" and that didn't make sense. Apparently, this 56 year old woman is the ORIGINAL GANGSTER!!!!!   How fun is that? Thank you to everyone for your continued love and support. 💖

 I saw a man lurking behind the salon near our dumpster. He must have been looking through our garbage to find hair for his costume!😂

 I came across this ad for a Hallowini Bikini and it cracked me up so I had to share it with you. And although I've left a lot of shapes on the bikini area in the past, I think a bat may be difficult. Anybody want to give it a try?

When I finished giving a man a Brazilian Wax, he hopped off the table and stood in front of my bright light to inspect my work. He moved his parts up, down and side to side making sure I didn't miss a single hair.  It looked like he was looking for a needle in a haystack except that all his hay was in my garbage can and the needle was bright, shiny and bare. 

 Today's funny wax room story.

I walked into the waiting area on the second floor of Mark & M.E. and saw a man sitting there. I went downstairs to ask the staff what he was getting done. They told me he was getting a Brazilian Wax. When I went back upstairs, I guided him into the wax room. As I was putting the disposable sheet on the bed, I said, "You can take your pants off and hop on the table while I get my gloves on." He looked at me funny and said, "For a back Wax?" Fortunately it was a brief misunderstanding and he thought it was funny. When I told my next client what happened, she laughed and said, "Boy, that would make a very interesting google review." 

 This morning I was thinking about a funny conversation from last week. It's another typical exchange for this Brazilian Wax technician.

M.E. "How are you? Seems like forever!"

Client:  "I'm good. Today I'm going to take you back in time."

M.E. "Really? To what time?"

Client: "The 70's."

She wasn't kidding!😂

Remember this children's song? It's funny because a girl came in today and said her boyfriend kept calling her fuzzy wuzzy. I remembered that the song said the bear didn't have hair so after I finished giving her a Brazilian, we went to You Tube and listened to the song. And I was right. Fuzzy didn't have hair and neither does this girl anymore.

 

 People say the craziest things when they get waxed. I was giving a woman a Brazilian yesterday and as she turned on her side so I could finish the service, she yelled "OMG, my wolf is howling at the moon!"

 If the creases on the top of your legs get ingrown hairs, your undies may be to blame. The elastic band can irritate the skin on that sensitive area, especially if they are too tight or you sit all day. Remember the story about the guy who thought he'd handle the Brazilian Waxing like a gangster? Probably the funniest part of the appointment was when he got off the table and walked very slowly towards the clean up station with his legs and buttocks clenched. When his wife asked him why he was walking like that, he said he was afraid. I'm not exactly sure what he was afraid of, but it was comical. 

 A couple came in together for side by side Brazilians. The woman is a regular and it was easy for her. Her husband, on the other hand, didn't tolerate it very well. There was screaming, swearing, and sweating. She kept teasing him that he was bragging he was a 'G' but, in reality, he was being a pansy. He said (amongst the moaning and groaning) he thought it wouldn't hurt that much. After he got off the table, she told him he wasn't a 'G' after all. When I asked what a 'G' was, she told me it referred to being a gangster. I told them I was the 'G' in the wax room.

The song  King of Pain by Police came on as I was doing a full body wax on a man. It was the most appropriate song to be waxing except for it should have said "Queen of Pain!"

 Shaving can cause hyperpigmentation, especially in delicate areas like the bikini line or the underarms, which is why more and more people are getting waxed. We had a client tell us that her bikini area looked like Kanye West when she shaved. Now she waxes. 

 One of my regular Brazilian Wax clients was not tolerating the service very well yesterday. At one point she yelled, "Your mother is a man!" I'm not sure where that came from, but it was funny!

 Putting lotion on the skin right after a wax can clog the pores and cause irritation and ingrown hairs. Some moisturizing soaps and highly fragrant body washes can do the same thing. You don't need to smell like pomegranate and apple sauce to be clean. 

 People get lazy about personal grooming when summer is over and I'll never understand why. Don't you feel better when you shave your legs, get a pedicure, color your hair or get a Brazilian Wax? Self care isn't just a summer thing. You should always try to feel your best - every day...every hour...every season. 

 Not only does shaving cause redness, irritation and ingrown hairs, it grows back prickly. I'll never understand why anyone wants sandpaper feeling skin - especially Down Under. 

Waxing, on the other hand, pulls the hair from the root allowing a finer, thinner hair to grow back in. It may feel uncomfortable for a few minutes while having it removed, but at least the skin will be smoother and healthier for several weeks after the service. And when your hair grows in, it will be soft. More importantly, you won't feel like you're having sexy time with a porcupine.
