I love what was written about my 3rd and final book in The  Happy Hoo-Ha Trilogy. This  book  was written by my little voice,  Raul.  There are also more hilarious  illustrations  and some really silly poetry. Read  the description below;  you may just want to read it!

After I shared yesterday's post about my first book, The Happy Hoo-Ha, someone asked me what the difference was between the 1st and the 2nd book. Like the 1st book, I've recalled countless crazy stories that happen at the salon including a fairly disturbing chapter called WTF.  The story of the deodorant girl is legend.  What is different about The Happy Hen House (you'll have to read it to see what the subtitle is😄) is that I hired an illustrator to draw some cartoon pics that comically depict some of the scenes that happened in the wax room. I also introduce my little voice, a gay Hispanic man named Raul who likes to chirp in when I try to remain politically correct. It was another really fun  book to write!

 

I can't believe it has been almost 10 years since I published this book. The Happy Hoo-Ha was my first in a trilogy of crazy stories that have happened in the privacy of my wax rooms. As you can see, it's super affordable and, believe me, the stories are just as funny today as they were a decade ago. I'd love for you to check out the book and give me some feedback. I'm still hoping to get the stories on Netflix some day!!!

 

 For nearly three decades I have greeted my clients with a "let's get naked" greeting!  Although  they only get naked from the waist down,  it's part of my casual, no nonsense approach to Brazilian Waxing. We aren't hoity toity people who make the service weird or uncomfortable. It's what we do and we want you to feel like it's no big deal, because it isn't a big deal. But when I think  about retiring  (yes, that terrifying word that makes me cry) I wonder if I will continue to say that to people because it's part of my vocabulary. I can imagine walking into a store and saying "Hi, let's get naked!"  in the most inappropriate setting. Yep,  I see an arrest in  my future...

VAJACIALS ARE  STILL A THING!

Since my vajacial posts keep getting flagged by Google, I thought I'd try another approach. In case you weren't aware, both of our salons offer a service that makes your skin as smooth and as clear as a perfectly delectable peach. {OK, that might get me in trouble.}  It is called a vajacial (a.k.a. vagina facial). It's a great way to get your skin ready for that bikini!

 

 Although most people know us as the Home of the 10 Minute Brazilian, that is not all we do. The salon was founded in 1956 as a hair salon by Mark's mom Celia. It was called Style-O-Rama back then. And even though it's fun making people bald, it's also fun to make our clients feel more beautiful and more confident with the hair on their head. Our staff is producing some great work so you might have to think about having them play with the hair north of your nether regions. 

 The theory behind waxing is when you pull out a hair from the root, your new hair comes in finer and thinner. Often, some of the hairs don't grow back. For many of my clients, the hair stops growing across the front of the bikini line but continues to grow in the undercarriage. I believe there is more blood and energy down low which encourages more hair growth in that part of the body. The other day a client, who  has very little hair across the front of her bikini line, told me that she had a goat's beard down there. It was an accurate description. 

 I love the name of our 2nd location. In fact, it has been my license plate for over a decade. But when I typed Wax It All in the search bar the other day,  this product came up. It seemed like there was definitely a correlation between this product and the service we provide at Wax It All and this is why.

They claim the product is safe, enhances beauty, is easy to use, gives a soft sheen and leaves a smooth feel. Sounds about right!

 I received the best compliment today. 

A client who I have been waxing for years was telling a friend about me. She told her friend that I "Normalized Brazilian Waxing in Rochester." That made me so happy. When I started doing Brazilians 30 years ago, no other salons were offering the service.  When the hype started in 1996 after a Sex In The City episode talked about it, I became really busy. If you called other salons in the area during that time, they would refer clients to us, which I really appreciated. I also heard that many salons thought Brazilians were naughty or unprofessional and would tell prospective clients that M.E. at Mark & M.E. was the only one that did that service (like I was some deviant.) But it all worked out. I perfected the 10 Minute Brazilian and am proud of the service my staff and I provide. Thank you to all of you who love our Brazilian Waxing Service as much as I do. I'm proud  that  I  made Brazilian Waxing  normal!

WAX LEFT BEHIND???

We use a product that contains tea tree oil to remove the wax residue from your skin. Occasionally you may find a little stickiness left behind, which can happen since we wax areas that have a lot of nooks and crannies. If you notice some stickiness while you are at the salon, please let us know and we will give you more oil. If you notice some when you get home, feel free to use vegetable, coconut or tea tree oil on the area so you don't get stuck to any surface like a suction cup.

Beauticians have the best job in the world!

When you wax a client every month for several years, you establish a special relationship with them (especially when you are working on their v-j-jay!) There are countless people that I think of as family. So when a woman falls in love with a great man who treats her properly, it's impossible for me to hide my excitement and appreciation when I meet the guy. My enthusiasm may be surprising to people who don't know me, but believe me, I think of your loved one as family and when she is happy, so am I!

 Husband texts wife: "You need to 911 ME"

Wife calls husband in a panic. "What's wrong? Why do you need me to call 911?"

Husband replies, "Not ME. You need to call M.E. That thing is biting my mustache!"

 A woman was referred to me by her good friend to get a Brazilian Wax. Apparently when I finished the service, she called her friend and said, "M.E. really gets in and out of there!" just like the burger joint I guess.

 A man who gets regular Brazilians with me told his coworker she needed to stop shaving and start waxing. He warned her that there is no foreplay when you get waxed by me. I guess I'm a lot like Winston.

I started a blog over a decade ago called hosedownyourhoo-ha@blogspot.com because clients say and do the funniest things when they are getting a Brazilian Wax. Like the woman yesterday who said she could feel the breeze when I finished waxing her. That feeling made her very happy - and it made me happy as well!

 One of my male clients comes in for a Brazilian every five weeks. Last month money was tight so he went quite a bit longer than usual. He definitely noticed that it was more painful since he waited. After I pulled one of the strips he yelled, 

"Oh my..."

"Mistress?" I said.

"Bitch," and then he burst out laughing. 

It was not the first time I was called that and it won't be the last. It was all in good fun and he rebooked for 5 weeks. 

 Attention all grumpy people out there: It is our policy to get your credit card in order to hold your appointment. It is something we have been doing for several years. We were forced to implement this policy because so many people were not showing up for their appointments. It is NOT our policy to use your card to buy Sephora Makeup or a Coach Hand Bag. So PLEASE be nice to our receptionist. They are just doing their job and trying to make everyone accountable so we minimize our no-show rate.

 Yesterday I was cashing out at a store and had my Wax It All sweatshirt on. The cashier said that she just celebrated her 60th birthday and her friend offered to get her a Brazilian.

 The woman was appalled and said, "I thought you liked me and we were friends? Why would you do that to me?"

Her friend is a regular client of ours and told her a Brazilian at Wax It All was quick and painless and that getting waxed was way better than shaving. That didn't convince this woman. 

After she expressed her horror in getting such a service done, I said  "We have numbing products if you're worried about the pain."

"Tequila?" she asked. 

Just a friendly reminder that Mark & M.E. and Wax It All have extended their 4th of July festivities for an extra day and will be opening back up tomorrow Wednesday July 5th. Not sure the staff is sorry to be closed since they rarely get 3 day weekends, but it's okay because they will raring to go tomorrow!
