Although 2020 was a difficult year for all of us, there was a stronger sense of community, like in the beauty industry, and for that I am thankful.

 When people are forced to shave during the shutdown and then give up because of the irritation, it often feels like this in the palm of your hands. 

One of my clients got a romantic game for her and her husband to play with. They've decided that they would not be daring with regards to this challenge and continue to come to Mark & M.E. 
 

 Although I am usually a very positive person, I've never been so happy to see NEGATIVE by my name. Shame I couldn't remember when I was born!😂

 This is how I feel awaiting Cuomo's briefing today. It's a strange feeling having your ability to make a living being totally out of your control and in someone else's hands.

 Although I love our gender neutral bathroom sign at Wax It All, I'm pretty fond of these as well! 

It's not really a speakeasy because the salon I'm working at is in the yellow zone, but it's kind of fun to think I'm being naughty!

 Here is an update from the Mark & M.E. and Wax It All Salons. Our governor is going to reconsider opening the salons that have been closed in the designated Orange areas. That means both of our salons will remain closed until we can reopen legally and we are praying that it will happen by the end of the week. If you need a wax, however, Mary Elizabeth will be working at a salon in Henrietta Wednesday through Saturday this week.  I still can't understand why my neighboring salons have been open the past 2 weeks and we've been closed, so I sent messages to several people in the government asking them to allow us to reopen. I'll keep you posted!

 Remember the scene in Dumb & Dumber when Harry is supposed to groom the dogs, but he takes them for footlong hotdogs with ketchup & mustard instead? Thinking about this scene made me wonder how many people are going to have grooming mishaps during this shutdown! If you have one, please share!

 Put the razor down! We hope the governor will change his mind and let us reopen soon!!

 OK, I'm not going to try this, but I thought it was pretty clever. Instead I am hoping women who like to read romance novels will download some of my books.  I started working in my dad's insurance business when I was 7 years old alphabetizing his paperwork &  filing the papers in the client's files. It was easy for me to work since the business was in our home. Now, 48 years later, this virus is forcing me into unemployment - AGAIN. Unlike the last shut down, however,  I am going to try to stay as positive as possible while we are off and also remind myself that I'll never take ripping the hair off of a woman's hoo-ha for granted...ever!

 If this is how I have to dress to go back to work, I'm in! Stay safe everyone!!!

 In this crazy world where half of the salons in our fair city are open and half are closed, I suspect many people will be grooming themselves in their kitchens again. Please be careful with the scissors, my friends!

 I wondered how many of our clients were feeling like this today? 

 Good morning everyone! I wanted to let you know that our world is temporarily closed. I can't understand why salons located one mile from us are open, but we are not willing to risk losing our licenses, so we have shut down again. We will keep you posted when we get permission to open again. Stay safe everyone!

 Sadly we may be forced to close again this week due to COVID so if you need to have your feathers plucked you may want to come in before Thanksgiving.

 For many people, turkey preparations begin at the salon. I'm happy to announce that both salons open at 8am today!!

When you wax Brazilians for a living, this is the kind of message you get from your clients! 
 

 In these troubling times, we need more love. I've spent a career encouraging everyone to hug a kitty, whether it be furry, bald, yours or someone else's...

As much as it bums me out, I understand why beauty salons are not essential. I'm just praying I don't hear anything about that annoying orange.

A woman yelled "Holy Shiitake Mushrooms" as I was waxing her. Since shrooms tend to be smooth, I liked that expression.  

I had 2 women this week tell me they felt like they lost 10 pounds after I finished  their Brazilian; that sounds about right.  

This kind of meal prior to your Brazilian Wax is not recommended. Even our masks can't protect us. 

 A woman told me she could feel the removal of her hair down to her soul. Then we laughed and everything was all better.
